3.0.24

General

Removed all radios with transmit support from the Server Manager as they were not supported: ANAN, Pluto, Lime, Hermes-Lite 2, ELAD FDM-DUO transceiver.

Afedri

Restored 1.33 MHz bandwidth
Added visual gain.

Console Streaming

https://www.sdr-radio.com/console-streaming
Tested laptop to laptop, 912 kHz bandwidth, is OK.
PC to PC (wired) works with 5 MHz bandwidth, not 100% with 10 MHz.

Note: Uses UDP, may add TCP as an alternative at a later date.

DX Cluster

Fixed a problem with DX Cluster where the connection would be restarted as a result of erroneous error detection.
Correct display of entries split over one or more messages.

ELAD DUO Transmit

Full support added.

Favourites

Changed default favourites layout.

OpenCL

Added OpenCL support to offload FFT processing for AMD graphics cards (also works with NVIDIA but not recommended).

Pluto

Fixed a bug with RIT & XIT:
Switching enable on/off didn’t actually enable/disable,
Resetting didn’t always reset.
Changed defaults:
RX Gain = Slow attack
Manual = 50
Visual = -30

RDS Logfile

Supports the new and old PI Code field. If the new field is empty it looks at the old field.
Editor window given some overdue ‘loving’.

Receive

Audio slider range now 40dB.

Scheduled Recordings

User interface redesigned, now much simpler.
Open from: Ribbon bar, Rec/Playback, Data :: Scheduler, Schedule.

SDRplay

SDRplay v3 now uses the DLL from the currently installed SDRplay software, so should be (is) fine with 3.06 and 3.07. If there’s no SDRplay installation it falls back to the 3.06 DLL (shipped in the kit).
Added RSPduo checks when switching between tuner A and B.
Ensure the LNA selection is valid.
Fixed rare timing issue which could inhibit data flow from SDRplay service to Console.

Serial Port (CAT) Interface

Fixed bug which caused unnecessary screen refreshes for commands which did not change the DSP state.
Fixed the serial port command AG when setting audio level to 100.
Removed unnecessary processing of serial port commands in the Receive, AGC display. This caused the program to ‘stutter’.

Spectrum Markers

Removed entries from menu in the ribbon bar, added to the Markers Configuration window.

Video Recorder

Given a couple of days attention, as a result it now runs much better on my i5-6200U laptop (no GPU) with external 4k monitor.
Recorded audio level is now always 100% - the volume setting for the active RX is ignored.

3.0.23

Afedri

Logic updated, should work with any AD sample rate.
Gain menu corrected, extraneous entries removed.
Works with 822x which must be in single channel mode.

Analyser

Plays chained HDSDR recording files correctly (gain was too low), chaining not working.

Display

I have made the analog S-meter scaling, so if set to medium or large and there isn’t room for it to display correctly it is automatically reduced in size.
Found and fixed a reproducible bug related to the analog S-meter where the program could display Please Wait when closing..
Better zooming with narrow bandwidths.
Various startup fixed for floating windows.
Less flicker when scrolling the waterfall.

Extra options which are not enabled are now not initialised (save startup processing):

Identities

Increased number of identities from 4 to 8. The selection window shows either 4 or 8 depending on the definitions.

Noise reduction

A bug has been fixed in the rrnoise project, rrnoise is the engine used in NR3.

Recording

Audio

Audio recording in WAV format now starts a new file after 1 GB has been written.

Data

Added three preset definitions for the Data recorder.

From the ribbon bar select Options (see screenshot). Press Preset 1 ... 3 to display the Recording Definition window.

Playback of chained HDSDR (WINRAD format) and SDRuno recordings now works correctly. Allowed up to 5 seconds between the internal times in the metadata chunk.

Video

Improved reliability.
Fixed problem with loss of audio.

Satellites

TLE now works with Unclassified, Classified and Secret (was previously only Unclassified).

SDRplay

If an API call fails it is retried 4 more times with a 25 millisecond interval between retries.
At least 10 milliseconds between consecutive API calls.
AGC now restored correctly from previous session.

Transmit

Obscure timing problem with Meter display resolved.

3.0.22

General

Narrow FM:

De-emphasis time constant was wrong, now set to 530µs (300 Hz).
Gain adjusted, limiter added to avoid overload with over-modulated transmissions.
Squelch updated to have a short tail (2ms) on strong signals and a long tail (150ms) on weak signals, this is to reduce the squelch 'flutter' when a signal is weak.

Performance:

Improved, most noticeable with low-power (< i5) systems.
Fixed fatal errors when zooming with fast screen speeds.
Added better sanity when stopping / starting radios – for example when changing the bandwidth.

Noise reduction:

NR4 reset now resets the DSP as well as the sliders.

Serial port (CAT)

Added SD which returns the signal level in dB above S0
Fixed SM, now returns correct values

ELAD

Added support for the DUO(r).

Ettus

Updated support to use the 3.15 LTS library from Ettus.

Hermes-Lite 2

Lime

Support DLL updated, no change to Lime Mini or Lime USB but codebase is now ready for LimeRFE integration.

Markers

Added support for Favourites.

QO-100 Geostationary Beacon

Problem with the Geostationary beacon waterfall stopping is fixed.

Satellites

Internal timing change to avoid distorted audio.
Removed many diagnostics as no longer needed.

SDR-IQ

Spur reduction enabled by default.

Server

Better support for unwanted connection attempts, still more to do but server is more resilient.

More resilient when connections attempted by other software, in other words better DoS.
Bandwidths lists are cached,
Bandwidths not shown if a radio is in use (caused problems).
Reduced some diagnostic text in the logfile.
Fixed ‘invalid argument’ error when selecting V3 Server.
On-Air server now running much better, 99.999% stable!
Bug searching for V3 server definitions should be fixed.

Transmit

Denoiser, Symmetric options now part of the Normal / DX / Other profile.

VOX hang range increased to 1,000ms.

Video Recorder

Internal timing change to avoid distorted audio.

3.0.21 (Pre-Release)

QO-100 Geostationary Beacon

On February 14th, 2020 AMSAT-DL changed the PSK beacon frequency of QO-100, as a result this pre-release is available.

In the Geostationary beacon click the ••• button to display the Options, then just select the new beacon frequency and all will be well.

Ettus SDRs

Ettus Research support upgraded to the latest Github source 4.0.0, tested with N210, B200, B210. Must be considered a work in progress although it is looking good.

Video Recorder

Transmit audio now sent to the video recorder post-processing (boost, compander, processor, filter, ...) rather than unprocessed.

AAC audio quality improved. Must be considered a work in progress.

General

⚠️ Kit updated at 13:30 GMT to fix a fatal error with Windows 7 / Windows 10 32-bit.

Noise Reduction: fixed initial layout size of the NR window.

TX Monitor: added system debugger diagnostics to detect under- and over-runs..

SAM: Added 25Hz high-pass filter to reduce artefacts.

Recording playback: Fixed problem stopping data playback if repeat was enabled.

Added extra synchronisation in FFT processing when freeing a plan.

Fixed a bug where the frequency scale was not always updated when the active receiver frequency causes the main display to be redrawn.

Video Recorder

Added a video recorder. This uses the Windows H.264 encoder for video, AAC or MP3 for audio, the output is in MP4 format. An example is shown below.

General

Recording, Auto replay should now work properly (was broken with a previous kit).

ILG database import now much faster.

Lime

More sanity checks while changing the LO frequency with the Lime MINI, stops freezes.
Added configurable TX streaming after switching to receiver, this is related to the 5 second carrier problem.

Noise Reduction

Reorganised the Noise Reduction panel in the Receive DSP pane.

Added NR4, adaptive spectral subtraction. This has too many artifacts and will be improved as time allows.

General

Memory leaks fixed:
Loading Analyser project.
Saving some XML strings.
Fixed some UI drawing issues.
Fixed asymmetric filtering in broadcast FM (BFM) mode.
Selecting radio:

Select radio window now centred over the console,
Previously selected entry is always visible.

When a data (IQ) recording finished the Stop button processing is now always applied, so the console playback is correctly reset.
When using a converter RX/TX definition (e.g. QO-100) the correct arrow is shown in the TX window (▲).
When changing frequency with NR3 enabled no longer causes unwanted audio effects.
Geostationary beacon window now uses the thousands separator for the user locale, so 9132 Hz is shown as 9,132 Hz (UK/US) or 9.132Hz (DE).
Added extra options to the Ribbon Bar, Transmit with fixed keyboard mappings. These mappings will be user-definable later.
