Ok turning the input gain as low as I can does not solve the problem. There is intermod/splatter on every signal. Are you listening to this on a crowded band???

I'll attack this problem next week as part of the SoftRock support.

Well the couple of people I asked abiout it on the SoftRock group seemed to not have any problem in their setup but I am certainly having it here.It may have something to do with the external EMU 0202 USB card. I do have the manual volume controls turned all the way down on the 0202. I hope it is something you can find. It might be a driver/latency issue but can't understand why this never appeared before in earlier versions.

This week is SDR-IP integration, next week SoftRock. If I still have problems with you I'll get a nice little display written which shows the whole signal processing path and at each stage shows:

  • CPU

  • Latency

  • Audio / IQ levels

We'll get you going again :)

My Softrock receiver V8.3 also seems very sensitive to the audio input settings. I have tried different inputs on the sound card. If I set the input level to 0 I get nothing then anything between 1 and 100 gives a signal (line input). I seem to get better results with the level <5. This seems to apply to all software receivers I use. I think soundcards were never designed for IQ signals from Softrocks so the input range of the mixer is way out. Maybe Simon can make a high resolution input level control 0-1000 instead of 0-100. It may be a restriction of the sound card controls available in software though.

Second thoughts I could put a physical attenuator on the output of my Softrock or adjust the gain of the amplifier in the final stage of the Softrock if that's possible.

I'll see what can be done - just leave it with me for now. If the signal read from the soundcard is not overloaded then it's easy, if it is overloaded then some brain power is needed somewhere :)
