The major features of SDR-RADIO.com:

  • Designed for fasted possible performance using Windows 2000 and higher

    • A Windows service is installed on the computer connected to the radios (a LINUX daemon could be supported later in 2010),
    • Communications using secure / asynchronous TCP/IP,

    • Uses the famous Ham Radio Deluxe engine (support for over 70 radios)

The 2009 / 2010 schedule is:

2009

  • December 10th: first technology preview:
    • RFSPACE SDR-IQ
  • December 24th: second technology preview
    • SoftRock receivers (fixed-frequency and Si570 VFOs)

2010

  • Support for the new RFSpace receivers
  • HF Radio integration (Yaesu, ICOM etc.)
  • Improved NB, NR
  • Increase audio bandwidth from 4 kHz to 24 kHz
  • Digital mode decoders (CW, PSK, RTTY etc.)
  • Rewrite the spectrum scope to use DirectX
Licencing & Prices

Licencing has not been finalised, but:

  • RFSPACE SDR-IQ, SDR-14 and future receivers:
    • Existing customers: T.B.A.
    • New customers: included in the package
  • Soundcard (SoftRock) and low-end SDR - 30 days free, after 30 days it runs without a licence but with serious nag-ware displays!
  • Other: T.B.A.
Computer

The minimum console (user interface) requirements are:

  • Intel ATOM N270 (as used in many new netbooks such as the ASUS),
  • Windows 2000, XP, VISTA, 7 (or higher), not Windows 98 / SE / CE,
  • 1024 x 576 display.

The minimum remote server target is a small 500 MHz AMD Geode LX800 from PC Engines of Taiwan click here for more information.

Development

The software development environment is:

  • Visual Studio 6.0 C++ and Visual Studio 10 C++
  • 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, VISTA, 7
  • Codejock Xtreme Toolkit Pro for Visual C++ MFC (licence required)
  • Dundas Software's Ultimate Toolbox (Open Source, free)
  • Installation software NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System)

Some source code may possibly be available later.
