Uploading Error Reports

If you get a crash in any component with a Please Wait message just follow these steps.

When the Please Wait message closes click More... on the first screen
On the screen that follows click Save... and save the bug report to file, this will be a ZIP archive.
Then upload the ZIP file to the FTp area ftp.ham-radio.ch in the /common/sdr-radio folder. Note: This is a public upload area. Everyone can upload files but not delete them. Please don't abuse this or else!

To upload the file dump.zip using DOS:

I was playing around with the user interface and noticed 1 minor misnonmer in the user interface tweaking menu....

Also had some iedas that should go into the "Requests" box but I'm rather lazy.... All of which are in the .doc I uploaded.

Thanks Simon. I have temporarily reverted to build 264. It doesn't have SAM and the DSB doesn't work, but I like the AM filter better and it seems to have more audio output.

Beta 1.0 build 272 volume in broadcast bands

I have set the console volume slider to max and control the volume with the Windows volume control (from the keyboard). About half max gives plenty of volume on AM broadcast stations.

I don't know if it is by design, but, in the AM mode, dragging the passband filter bar from the left side has no effect. This was observed while running Windows XP under Bootcamp on a Mac Mini.

Use of NR for blocking IBOC digital hiss

This is more of a comment than an error report. I have been playing with the NR for reducing the hiss in the bandpass of AM broadcast stations from adjacent channel broadcasts using the hybrid analog/digital format (IBOC). Technically, I suppose that this is not really noise since it is not random. I confess that I know nothing about how these noise reduction schemes work. My test involved listening to WBZ at 1030 KHz. Here in southwest OH, this station receives interference in the form of "hiss" from the lower digital wing of the IBOC signal from WHO at 1040 KHz. To be fair, I must state that the issue is mutual because WBZ also uses IBOC (IBOC is playing havoc with MW DXing in the U.S., but that is another story).

NR-1 was effective in reducing the noise, but lowered the audio for all slider settings; NR-2 introduced a lower frequency "buzz" that was just as annoying as the hiss; NR-3 reduced the hiss while maintaing good audio quality.
