I must confess to some experience in the SDR field. I have been running a USRP 1 and a GNU Radio interface driving LINRAD for some time. I have also played with most of the Windows based applications and have a choice (not at the same time) of several PCs and soundcards.

On the Remote server  I can run on the same PC as the server either using the console directly or using loopback. It makes no difference to running another PC on the same LAN (via a switch). I have a 100baseT network which is more than capable.</p> <p>I have now registered the remote server and although I can log-in and operate over the Internet;but it still appears on the server list as having a firewall issue. Is this down to the way that I am running the server in the DMZ and using NAT?

The main problems revolve around the interfacing of the remote server and the E-Mu 0202 USB soundcard. I have used the 0202 as it is probably the best performer for moderate money and possibly the 2nd or 3rd most popular with the sound-card based SDR community. I have run the remote server up with a Delta 44 and there were no issues at 96KHz sampling although at lower rates I sense, from the familiar bangs and pops it is suffering from the wrong buffer length/latency on the input audio streams. On the E-Mu 0202 I have now established that although the presence of the card is detected by the sdr-radio software the interface to change the sample rate doesn't work. This is a particular problem as the 0202 defaults to 44.1Khz sampling when it starts without the sample rate being selected. Therefore attempting to change the sample rate on the remote server with the console causes a console conflict and the software to hang...

Don't worry - it's really just for me. Unsolicited messages are send by the radio when it wants to talk to the user, for example to let the user know that there's a signal overload or that a setting has been correctly changed.

On-air server password

The requirement is: The password must be at least 6 characters long and contain at least 2 digits or special characters (@#$%+=). Examples: R@dio1 or Power99.

In my opinion this is not over zealous, what do other users think? If you are allowed to enter your standard (weaker) password and it's guessed correctly I do not want to be held liable for resulting damage, so it's not just you being protected. Once you have registered you receive an upload code which is used thereafter. As long as you do not forget the code you will not need the password again.

I just had a German guy listening for hours and tried to hint him by cutting off the connection that his time is over but no way: he logged in tonight again and again very instantly for about 20 times. Can you send him a note that there's some kind of limit per day, maybe two hours max or what do you think? He is from "ADMIN-PC" from 217.235.210.103 near Viersen, Düsseldorf.

I agree about all you say.

This evening I am starting the integration of the RFspace SDR-IP and also SoftRock support, so I'll attack your suggestions as part of this work. I agree that I should lock down the sample rates that can be selected.

The server does seem to get confused at times, I see this myself.

The entry only appears if the owner has his remote server running in which case it sends a message to the Website announcing its availability.

If the owner is away or using his station or just decides not to turn the server on then no message is sent

multiple users with server?

Hi Simon & all- a belated thanks for the replies to my last questions- it took me a while to find thesae new forums!
I am really enjoying using this software with my softrock V9 rx- but I have a couple more questions for the group.

Is it possible to have multiple simultaneous connections to the server? I have searched through the menus but cannot find anything; I am assuming not- but hoping I have missed something.

Also, the console doesn't seem to save some of it's setting on close- I have to turn off the waterfall & set the sample rate to 48000 each time I fire it up- again, am I missing something here or is this just the way it currently is?
